 By:Maate Geoffrey  Hajjat Zuula has been advised to hand over her daughter, Nisha, to her biological father, Hajji Kintu, due to her inability to protect her amidst numerous allegations of defilement cases.  Hon. Balaam recommended that Hajji Kintu should pursue custody in court, emphasizing that, despite Nisha being a minor, her mother has shown irresponsibility in ensuring her safety. Minister Balaam said this today while meeting the two former lovers at his offices in Kampala.  Initially opposed to the idea, Hajjat later agreed after learning that Kintu would need to pay her back for the expenses she incurred in raising Nisha from the age of two until now at 14. A case erupting all these is still in court where Hajji Ali is accused of defiling Hajjati 's daughter and Hajji Ali was remanded to Luzira prison till 13th next month as the court is still collecting much evidence regarding this case.

Many African wedding ceremonies cannot move forward without this step. For some ethnic groups in Ghana, the name of this ritual is “knocking on the door” or ‘kokoo ko’. The groom, together with  his family on a special prearranged night and “knocks” on the door of the bride’s house. Once they are let in, they present gifts such as wine for libation, money, and kola nuts to the bride’s family.  They then announce their intentions, and discuss the prospects of joining the two families through marriage. If everything goes well, the bride comes in to give her final consent as to whether or not she wants to marry the man.  Marriage preparations begin as soon as she gives her approval.
